We were blessed to have Igor and Skevi visit our church on Wednesday
26th January from the Melbourne Church of Christ, Australia.
| This is actually quite a strange link (God works in
mysterious ways!) as the eyes of Cyprus are currently firmly
fixed on Melbourne where the up and coming Cypriot tennis
player Marcos Baghdatis, ranked 55th in the world, has just
reached the final of the Australia Open, the most
significant sporting achievement ever for this tiny island
of Cyprus!!!! The island ground to a halt for the televised
semi-final, and erupted in joy and car horns when he won.
The final is tomorrow morning, and I rather suspect the
roads to church tomorrow morning will be eerily deserted!
Skevi herself is actually a
Greek Cypriot who became a disciple in Melbourne whilst
visiting her sister in 2000. She returned to Cyprus, but
because she believed there was no church in Cyprus, decided
to move permanently back to Melbourne a few months later.
This was our loss, but Igor's gain! Sometimes God has
certain plans we are not even aware of. |

Melbourne |
Igor and Skevi who able
to share with us about the Melbourne church, as well as the church
in Minsk, Belarus, which they had also just visited. This is where
Igor originates from and where he was also converted 11 years ago,
before moving to Australia with his parents 2 weeks later!
It was encouraging to
see new faces, feel Igor's and Skevi's joy, and gain a global
perspective on God's kingdom. Cyprus being a small island we do not
receive many visitors, and it is easy without realising to
unintentionally become isolated. Thanks Igor and Skevi for you
visit!
